ITV News published this video item, entitled “The poppy pins made from Second World War mines and aircraft | ITV News” – below is their description.
Thousands of poppy pins are being handmade using reclaimed aluminium metal collected from Second World War objects and being sold to raise funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. A mixture of Spitfire metal and mess tins represent the RAF and Army, while the Royal Navy proved more challenging. Those behind the project eventually tracked down aluminium in D-Day landing craft.
