The Point: Oracle says it will become TikTok’s ‘trusted tech partner’

CGTN published this video item, entitled “The Point: Oracle says it will become TikTok’s ‘trusted tech partner'” – below is their description.

U.S. tech firm Oracle says it has reached an agreement to become TikTok’s tech partner in the U.S. The proposal, which was confirmed by U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin over the weekend, comes after the Trump administration pressured TikTok to sell its U.S. business over national security concerns — claims that the app’s Chinese-owned parent company ByteDance has repeatedly denied. Although details of the deal remain scant, and the U.S. government must still approve the partnership, the proposal raises new questions: Would the deal alleviate the Trump administration concerns? Guests: Lyu Xiang Research fellow, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Einar Tangen Current affairs commentator
