A new study published in the Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology has revealed the world’s worst rates of type 2 diabetes in young people across the region, with levels 10 times worse than previously reported.

The economy is based largely on mining and petroleum, which during 2018–2019 contributed 23% of the gross state product, or $5.68 billion, accounting for 92.4% of exports.
The capital and largest city is Darwin. The population is concentrated in coastal regions and along the Stuart Highway.
Queensland (QLD) is an Australian state covering the continent’s northeast, with a coastline stretching nearly 7,000km. Its offshore Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef system, hosts thousands of marine species. The city of Cairns is a gateway to the reef and tropical Daintree Rainforest. The capital, Brisbane, is flanked by the surfing beaches of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts.
