Six decades after she was told girls couldn’t do the job, Gwen Goldman got the chance to live her childhood dream serving as bat girl for the New York Yankees.

She wrote to the famous baseball team aged 10 asking for the role, but was told she would “feel out of place in the dugout.”

Her daughter sent the letter back to the Yankees this year – and the response was very different.
