Bobbing in the southern French port of Sanary-sur-Mer are a colourful collection of little fishing boats known as “sharp boats”. Over in Marseille, they’re known as “barquettes”. However you choose to call them, they’re a nod to the heritage of the region. Plenty of local enthusiasts undertake a labour of love to restore them, using ancient techniques to preserve these beautiful vessels.
