Well, as major staff shortages hit Australia’s hospitality sector, one operator is offering a $5000 sign-up bonus for full-time workers. Sydney Restaurant Group needs to double its workforce by summer, in order to operate at full capacity. It’s an expensive exercise, but it could pay off for new staff. While wages are on the way up, new data shows they’re still failing to keep up with the rising cost of living, with inflation now at 6 point 1 per cent.
