While international botanists increasingly recognize the Himalayan region as one of the world’s great hot spots for biodiversity, the threat to this great natural wealth posed by human activity is, unfortunately, increasing too. Numerous species unique to the mountains are endangered or on the brink of extinction. In the last part of “The Himalayas Treasure Trove of Natural Heritage”, we follow scientists dedicated to protecting the region’s ecology and look at what its future might bring.
