ITV News published this video item, entitled “The German Climate Crisis – Three Months On From the Floods | ITV News” – below is their description.

Filmed in September 2020, three months on from the devastating floods that inundated Western Germany in July this year, James Mates returns to the towns and villages that were almost washed away, to see how locals are picking up the pieces.

As evidence emerges of the role carbon emissions play in worsening extreme weather, and in the wake of national elections that saw a surge in the Green vote, are attitudes to fossils fuels changing in a country with a historic reliance on coal, and a brand new billion-pound Russian gas pipeline?

On Assignment is ITV’s current affairs series presented by Rageh Omaar where ITV News journalists contribute in-depth reports from around the world on the stories behind the headlines.
