The mass movement of refugees into Europe is dominating headlines once again. Many people are fleeing conflict and persecution in their own countries. But across the world there’s now increasing evidence that climate change is also a factor.
The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre earlier this year said more people were displaced by extreme weather-related disasters in 2020 than by any conflict.
