Here’s a closer look at the worsening pandemic. Confirmed cases worldwide have reached almost 91 million. The U.S. is the worse-hit country with cases topping 22.5 million, followed by India and Brazil. The Chinese mainland is also going through a second wave in the winter season, with dozens of daily cases being reported recently, most in northern China’s Hebei Province. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for mass vaccination efforts in many countries including the U.S, UK and China. An expert team from the World Health Organization will arrive in China on Thursday. The mission aims to look into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic and capture lessons to help the world better prepare for future health crises. It will be the third such visit by the WHO to China since the pandemic began. Ahead of the visit, Tian Wei talked to Dr. Margaret Harris, spokesperson for the World Health Organization.
