“I’ve been trying to capture the spirit of the Chinese and identify the artistic conception at the core of the Chinese arts,” Wang Mingming said.
Wang Mingming learned to paint at the age of 5. After winning an international children’s painting contest when he was 6, he was lauded as an “art prodigy.” In his early years, Wang studied under several famous mentors, including Li Kuchan, who immersed him in traditional Chinese culture. More recently, Wang has been exploring the direction traditional painting is taking in the modern era. During his long career, Wang Mingming has become convinced that Chinese art must follow a Chinese path.
