Police officials are expected to deliver an update on Friday regarding the Jan. 15 incident where an armed man took four people hostage during a 10-hour standoff at a synagogue in Texas.
Matthew DeSarno, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Dallas Field Office, Colleyville Police Chief Michael C. Miller, and Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker of Congregation Beth Israel will speak.
Malik Faisal Akram, a 44-year-old British citizen, was identified as the hostage-taker and died in the standoff. All four hostages were unharmed.
The FBI on Sunday night issued a statement calling the ordeal “a terrorism-related matter, in which the Jewish community was targeted” and said the Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating.
