ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “Teenagers who are finding healing among the waves | 7.30” – below is their description.
Along the NSW South Coast, close to a million hectares of land was burned and almost 2,000 homes were destroyed or damaged during the Black Summer bushfire. The psychological scars might be harder to see but they run just as deep, especially for young people.
In Mollymook, an innovative program is using surfing to help heal teenagers caught up in the devastation. It is run by NSW Police and the Surfrider Foundation with local surf schools as Wayne Carberry and Vanessa Milton report.
