No longer the realm of science fiction, holograms have been used in a Brisbane operating theatre in what’s believed to be an Australian first. The mixed reality technology helped guide a surgeon operating on a young patient with a shoulder injury. If trials prove successful, it’s hoped the technology could also be used for complex procedures in other medical fields. Emma Pollard reports.
