Tasmania’s regions fight to keep publicly owned pools open as maintenance costs rise | ABC News

Tasmania may have the coldest climate in the country, but historically that hasn’t stopped locals from using outdoor pools.

Half a century ago, most towns across the state raised funds and built them themselves, but for the councils that own then now, they’ve become a financial drain.

So communities are having to come up with ways to keep their pools afloat.
