Prof. Huang Jing, Director of the Institute of the U.S. and Pacific Studies, at Shanghai International Studies University, says that the U.S. solemnly recognized that there is only one legal representative of China, the People’s Republic of China, but the “Taiwan Relations Act” is a unilateral action that is imposed upon an agreed principle, also the foundation of the normalization of the relationship between the two major powers.
