Syrian ex-secret police on trial in Germany for war crimes

Two former members of Syria’s secret police have fronted court in Germany, one of whom is charged with crimes against humanity, rape, 58 counts of murder, and the torture of several thousands. The two men face nine co-plaintiffs in the case. Human Rights Watch says the case could be cause for hope for other Syrian victims.
