Dozens of ISIL members, who were captured by the Syrian Democratic Forces – an alliance of rebel groups – during an offensive to remove ISIL from its stronghold of Raqqa, have been given amnesty in a goodwill gesture.
The pardon comes on the eve of the Muslim festival of Eid-al-Fitr.
