Advances in DNA investigations have led to a breakthrough over a terrifying series of sexual assaults against women in Sydney more than 15 years ago.
A 51-year-old man was arrested in Panania this morning, accused of being the ‘Spiderman Rapist’, thought to be responsible for 13 separate sexual assaults across Sydney between August 2003 and November 2004.
The breakthrough came when forensic investigators established links with family members on the DNA database. The Panania man faces a raft of charges, including five counts of rape, as well as indecency and break and enter.
