Much of the world is still heavily reliant on plastic bottles, despite its huge toll on the environment and constant calls for people to take recycling seriously.
It’s estimated the world will produce more than half-a-trillion plastic bottles this year— and it takes between 450 to 1,000 years for each bottle to decompose.
But as Redmond Shannon explains, researchers in Scotland may have found a new way to safely translate plastic into a vanilla flavouring found in ice cream.
