Global News published this video item, entitled “Surfside building collapse: Officials give update on search, rescue as hundreds still missing | FULL” – below is their description.
Authorities provided an update on Monday regarding the partially collapsed oceanfront condominium tower near Miami in Surfside, Fla., where rescuers are racing to locate any survivors beneath the rubble on the fifth day of searching, and hundreds are still missing.
On Sunday, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava confirmed that the death toll from the catastrophic collapse is now at nine. She said one victim had died in the hospital, while workers had pulled more bodies from the wreckage since yesterday.
Four Canadians are also confirmed to be among those still missing.
Authorities also announced earlier they are beginning an audit of buildings nearing their 40-year review — like the fallen Champlain Towers South — to make sure they’re safe.
