Supporters of jailed Spanish rapper clash with police in 5th night of protests

Global News published this video item, entitled “Supporters of jailed Spanish rapper clash with police in 5th night of protests” – below is their description.

Supporters of jailed Spanish rapper Pablo Hasél clashed with police in Barcelona in the fifth night of protests on Saturday.

Some demonstrators were seen waving communist flags and signs reading “No peace without justice.” Others were seen looting shops, while other protesters smashed windows and set fire to a motorbike in the street.

Another protest was held in Madrid, where Hasél’s supporters gathered peacefully, clapping and shouting “Liberty!”

The nine-month sentence of Hasél, known for his fiercely anti-establishment song lyrics, has sparked a debate over freedom of speech in Spain, prompting the government to announce it would make speech laws less restrictive.
