Global News published this video item, entitled “Storm Fiona: Trudeau holds media availability as eastern Canada battered by rain, wind | LIVE” – below is their description.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to hold a media availability regarding post-tropical storm Fiona on Saturday, after the storm made landfall overnight and brought severe wind, downed trees and left hundreds of thousands without power across eastern Canada.
Earlier in the day, Trudeau shared in a social media post that he had convened an Incident Response Group meeting with Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair and other officials, expressing his willingness to support provinces with additional resources.
According to the Canadian Hurricane Centre, the storm made landfall early Saturday morning over eastern Guysborough County, N.S.
The centre said Fiona is over western Cape Breton as of 9 a.m., and is expected to track northward through the day, reaching the Quebec lower north shore and southeastern Labrador by late Saturday evening.
