Storm Ciara batters UK: Major incident declared and warning of ‘danger to life’ | ITV News

Storm Ciara continues to batter the UK with heavy rain and severe gales, cancelling flights, trains, ferries and sporting fixtures.

A severe flood warning is in place in North Yorkshire – meaning there is a danger to life – for the River Nidd at Pateley Bridge and Bewerley.

Appleby in Cumbria is flooded after the River Eden burst its banks and in Lancashire, a major incident has been declared due to the volume of weather-related events across the county.

Across the UK, hundreds of flood warnings and alerts are in place.
