‘Stop offending Christ’: Poles scuffle outside performance of Catholic themed sex play

Scuffles broke out as hundreds of nationalists blocked entrance to the Theatre Powszechny over a controversial performance of the play ‘The Curse’, Warsaw, on Saturday. The play sparks controversy as it depicts, among others, village girl having children with catholic priest and sex scenes with the statue of Pope John Paul II. Protesters chanting ‘Jesus exists’ and ‘Stop offending Christ’ blocked the performance, throwing smoke bombs and fighting with counter-demonstrators with police. According to reports, one woman was injured and burnt after being attacked with acid.
