The State of Origin will return to Perth next year. The NRL, with the Western Australian government, have announced that Optus Stadium will host Game II of the 2022 series. Last time the event was held at the stadium was in 2019, where a sell-out crowd watched the NSW Blues defeat the Queensland Maroons in Game II of the series. The move aligns with the NRL’s policy of one neutral venue and one home venue for each of the states in the three-match series – this year’s event will be played in Melbourne, followed by Perth in 2022, and Adelaide in 2023.
