Sri Lankans are struggling to deal with the aftermath of deadly floods and mudslides, as humanitarian efforts were under way.
Troops are delivering aid supplies to half a million people displaced by flood water.
At least 202 people have died and 96 others are missing after the island experienced its worst flooding in more than a decade that triggered landslides and buried many homes.
“The people who lived here were good kind people. They all looked after each other. We have lost many of them,” said soldier Ashoka Premaratne, in Kiribathgala.
