Hundreds of thousands of students in Sri Lanka have had their schooling disrupted by teachers who are on strike.

The teachers are demanding better pay and are refusing to do even online teaching or exam preparations.

The government and teachers’ union are fighting over salary increments that are more than a quarter of a century old.
