South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Sri Lanka digs trenches to keep hungry elephants away from landfill” – below is their description.
More than a dozen elephants were seen on November 24, 2020, rummaging through trash, looking for food in a landfill in Sri Lanka. The garbage dump in the eastern town of Ampara was built next to a wildlife protection zone that is home to between 200 and 300 elephants. The local government is digging trenches around the landfill to keep hungry elephants out, as the animals could die from eating plastic by mistake. Support us: https://subscribe.scmp.com
