In the Indian city of Mandsaur, police officers have been seen hitting people with batons for breaching lockdown rules as the country struggles to contain a deadly second wave of Covid-19 cases. The main roads in the cities of Amritsar, Srinagar and Chennai were closed off as police carried out checks on vehicles, with only essential service providers allowed to travel.
