The CFO of Sports Direct, Chris Wootton, said the Dominic Cummings scandal “led to the government panicking” and delayed the re-opening of stores, which he had expected to happen on 1 June.
He also said the company paid all of its staff in full during April and May – including those on zero-hours contracts.
“There aren’t many retailers that did that,” he told Sophy Ridge.
