In Spain, tens of thousands of babies were stolen from their parents under the Franco dictatorship and as late as the 1990s. The infants were sold to people who had difficulty having their own children, through networks of nuns, priests and doctors. Now adults, some of these “stolen babies” have fought to track down their biological parents and bring the criminals to justice. Our correspondents met with Ines Madrigal, whose case is the first to go to trial.
