SpaceX Starship SN9 test flight ends in fiery explosion on the landing pad | FULL

Global News published this video item, entitled “SpaceX Starship SN9 test flight ends in fiery explosion on the landing pad | FULL” – below is their description.

The next SpaceX Starship prototype, SN9, took off on February 2nd, 2021 from the company’s launch facility in in Boca Chica, Texas.

And much like the first Starship test flight last year, SN9 had a mostly-successful test flight, which unfortunately ended with the ship exploding in a giant ball of fire and debris upon attempt to return to the Earth’s surface.

The Starship rocket destroyed in the accident was a 16-story-tall prototype for the heavy-lift launch vehicle being developed by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk‘s private space company to carry humans and 100 tons of cargo on future missions to the moon and Mars.

Elon Musk and SpaceX announced on Monday that they will send the first-ever fully commercial, non-government space flight into orbit by the end of the year, using the company’s four-seat Crew Dragon capsule for the journey.
