On July 24, the Wentian lab module docked successfully with the Tianhe core module of China’s space station. The whole docking process took 13 hours, a huge progress compared to the docking of Shenzhou-8, which took two days. Space rendezvous and docking is referred to as “thread a needle from thousands of miles away.” Xie Yongchun, director of Technology Committee, 502 Research Institute of the China Academy of Space Technology, is the leading figure in overcoming the technological challenge.
