South Sudan: Thousands flee in search of food

The UN’s Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) in South Sudan says that 4.8 million in the country are food insecure.

More than two years of conflict has resulted in a 300 percent inflation rate, rendering food prices unaffordable to many.

According to UNOCHA, 60,000 civilians have fled to neighbouring Sudan in search of food.

Al Jazeera’s Hiba Morgan reports from Aweil.
