Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “South Korea, Taiwan set to maintain memory chip market lead” – below is their description.
South Korea and Taiwan have a near monopoly on the world’s production of processing and memory chips.
And a global shortage of semiconductor chips is hurting hi-tech industries, game console producers to automobiles.
Car plants are reporting production delays of up to one million vehicles – a problem which has highlighted Taiwan and South Korea’s market dominance as the world becomes increasingly technology-driven.
But as China is bracing for a tech war with the US, Taiwan and South Korea also need to prepare for the future.
Al Jazeera’s Rob McBride reports from Seoul, South Korea.
