Global News published this video item, entitled “Some Canadian provinces reduce COVID-19 isolation periods” – below is their description.
Ontario is just one of the provinces loosening isolation periods for those who test positive to help prevent the system from collapsing.
The isolation period is being reduced for those who are fully vaccinated and children under 12 years old. It will go from 10 days to five following the onset of symptoms, a move the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention took earlier this week.
However, people who are unvaccinated or are immunocompromised will be required to isolate for the previous recommendation of 10 days.
And the Public Health Agency of Canada is reporting a 141 per cent increase in new cases over the last week. Hospitalizations from the Omicron variant are relatively low, but COVID-19 infections and precautions are forcing many people off the job including in health-care. Ross Lord reports.
