The benefits to household energy bills and the environment are undisputed, but experts fear governments have failed to create an environmentally friendly plan for solar panels once they’ve reached their used by date.
Currently, almost all broken or expired solar panels go into landfill and experts have been warning for some time that more than 100,000 tonnes of modules will end up there by 2035.
