We all knew the Queen by name, but she knew far fewer of us by ours. Sir David Attenborough was one of those privileged enough to get to know her through his work.
Sir David’s career in broadcasting extended beyond making films about the natural world. In the late 1980s and early 90s, he was in charge of producing the Queen’s Christmas messages.
And by the end of her life, the pair had come to know each other well.
Julie Etchingham met Sir David in January 2019 and asked him to share his memories.
