‘Show cause’ notices issued to at least 10 soldiers

Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “‘Show cause’ notices issued to at least 10 soldiers” – below is their description.

Defence Minister Linda Reynolds and Defence Chief Angus Campbell will address senior officers and public servant counterparts this morning to reportedly discuss the damning recommendations handed down in the Brereton report. Sky News understands at least 10 SAS regimental soldiers have been given show-cause notices as to why they should not be sacked. The soldiers involved belonged to the Second Regiment – now disbanded by the ADF – and the Third Regiment. A statement from an ADF spokesperson said, “defence can confirm it has initiated administrative action against a number of serving Australian Defence Force personnel in accordance with legislation and Defence policy”. It further said each person would be assessed case-by-case, stating “it’s essential due process is followed.” Some of the soldiers who received the notice are reportedly fighting on.
