There are growing calls across the country to cancel Canada Day celebrations this year, in the wake of recent discoveries of almost 1,000 graves at former residential schools in Canada.

Under the slogan of #CancelCanadaDay, a number of rallies are being organized in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Manitoba on Wednesday, July 1, in solidarity with Indigenous communities.

Its advanced economy is the tenth-largest in the world, relying chiefly upon its abundant natural resources and well-developed international trade networks.
