Shortage forces Palestinians to resort to water rationing

Israel’s national water company has denied cutting water supplies to large parts of the occupied West Bank during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

It says the water shortage is due to a combination of poor infrastructure and a damaged water pump, but Palestinians say it is a long-running problem that dates back to the 1967 war.

The town of Salfit is among the worst hit by the water crisis. Local authorities have had to ration the small amount of water coming from Israel among the 60,000 people who live there.

Al Jazeera’s Hoda Abdel-Hamid reports from the occupied West Bank.
