Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “Shine Awards 2020 nominee discusses her ‘special’ experiences as a flight nurse” – below is their description.

Shine Awards 2020 nominee Nadine Tipping spoke with Sky News host Paul Murray about her experience delivering babies on airstrips, outside of aircrafts and in small communities, describing it as “pretty special”. Ms Tipping is a flight nurse with CareFlight, a critical care aeromedical retrieval service and charity. She is one of the women recognised in this year’s Shine Awards; a program backed by The Weekly Times and Harvey Norman. The awards was started by Chairman of The Weekly Times, Penny Fowler, and the CEO of Harvey Norman, Katie Page, who wanted to raise the profile of women in rural and regional Australia. It run as a twelve-week campaign which accepts nominations of stories of inspiring women from all over the country. The 44-year-old Darwin resident told Sky News her work involved flying in both a fixed wing aircraft and a helicopter to reach patients across the country and provide them with “pretty much a small intensive care unit”. “So, anything from a trauma patient who needs advanced airways management, to interventions for survival, through to transporting patients who have chronic diseases, to mental health,” she said. “I’ve delivered babies on airstrips, outside of aircrafts, small communities. “It’s pretty special.”
