New York-based Chinese-born choreographer Shen Wei has made his name on the international #dance scene with his contemporary creations infused with Eastern sensibilities. One of his epic works, a spectacular scroll floor at the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, reached more than one billion viewers worldwide. His artistic practice draws upon #Chinese and Western cultures, encompassing not only dance but also painting, drawing, and filmmaking. Shen was deeply impressed by dancing and martial arts at an early age, and he put together the development of human civilization from different cultural points in his creative process. He told Tian Wei in an interview that he wants to present the work to move the audience just as it moves him.
