Kuwait’s leader Emir Sheikh Sabah, who died on Tuesday, was foreign minister during the country’s invasion by Iraq. FRANCE 24 correspondent Jack Hewson says the emir was a peacemaker and staunch ally of the United States, the two countries maintaining close ties during and in the wake of the Iraq war in 1991.
