Rev Al Sharpton, New York Mayor Bill De Blasio and other leaders kneeled for 9 minutes and 29 seconds in memory of George Floyd to dramatize the need for The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021 bill to pass in Congress, in New York on May 25 2021.

President Joe Biden marks the anniversary Tuesday of the police murder of George Floyd by hosting the African-American man’s family at the White House — but without being able to celebrate hoped-for national police reform.

Former Minneapolis policeman Derek Chauvin, who knelt on Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes until he passed out and died, was convicted of murder last month and is to be sentenced in June.
