Footage has been released on social media showing Shanghai residents fighting for food in the streets. China’s second largest city is in a strict Covid lockdown following the largest spike in cases they’ve had to date.
Many locals are struggling to find food, water and other daily necessities due to the lack of resources entering the Covid hot spot. China officials have confirmed that they are extending the lockdown in Shanghai due to the rising number of Covid cases.
China’s zero tolerance Covid policy has plunged 26 million people into a strict stay at home order. This follows the daily amount of cases increasing rapidly. Officials have confirmed there are over 15,000 new cases with only 1200 of them showing symptoms.
