For more: A firefighter in Shanghai’s Chongming District has supported 10 poverty-stricken families and looked after 13 elderly residents for 15 years. Lu Kexiao, a firefighting squad leader, spends some of his free time visiting those senior residents living on three islands in the district, including a 90-year-old lady in Dongbin Village of Hengsha Township. Lu has been looking after her for nine years, providing her with 500 yuan (about $76) a month, as well as food and occasional house cleaning.
