Lu Kexiao, a firefighting squad leader, spends some of his free time visiting those senior residents living on three islands in the district, including a 90-year-old lady in Dongbin Village of Hengsha Township. Lu has been looking after her for nine years, providing her with 500 yuan (about $76) a month, as well as food and occasional house cleaning.
