The treatment of women in sport has once again been in the spotlight since a damning report into gymnastics was handed down last month. This time, it’s swimming’s turn.

Weeks out from the Tokyo Olympics, Australia’s best swimmers are in Adelaide competing for a spot in the team but without two-time silver medalist Madeline Groves.

She pulled out of the event on social media, blaming misogynistic perverts in the sport and body shaming in subsequent posts.

Shane Gould knows the sport well. The three-time Olympic gold winner is one of swimming’s most successful athletes. She spoke to 7.30’s Leigh Sales.
