Multiple countries across Asia have been hit by severe flooding caused by several weeks of torrential rain since early November 2021. In Thailand’s southern province of Chumphon, floods starting on November 12 killed at least two people and disrupted the lives of nearly 5,000 others. In the eastern Indian city of Chennai, at least 14 people died in floods that started on November 7. Floods have also been reported in Indonesia’s western Serdang Bedagai regency since November 11. In addition to those countries, extreme rainfall since July has also caused massive flooding in mainland China, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
